Introduction
Le Star Trk est une version legère du Système Tentaculaire permettant de faire voyager le concept Tentaculaire par les transports en commun.

Des activités artistiques et techniques sont proposées autour du Le Star Trk :

- prise de son en milieu naturel puis montage pour une utilisation dans les programmes du Star Trk.
- modification et écoute attentive du son.
- jeu en public avec les participants, initiation à l'improvisation libre,
- initiation à l'utilisation de l'Open Sound Control sous Puredata, Processing et Usine.

Abstract

Le Star Trk is a downsized version of the mighty Tentacular System that can take advantage of its reduced size to travel the world abroad.

Various Le-Star-Trk-based activities can take place such as :

- fieldrecording, non linear editing,

- sonic manipulation,

- sonic games played live, introduction to free improvisation music,

- introducing Open Sound Control and Puredata, Processing and Usine.

De la prise de son à la manipulation sonore en temps réel :

Dans un premier temps, il y a un travail d'acquisition sonore. Ce travail récolte l'identité sonore du lieu, que ce soit le bush australien, le milieu urbain, un service hospitalier en ébullition...

Après leur capture, les sons vont être classés afin d'être implantés dans le Star Trk : il faudra anticiper les juxtapositions étonnantes entre différents sons de provenances différentes : oiseaux, insectes, bruits mécaniques, paroles...

Une fois muni(e) de ses nouveaux échantillons, Le Star Trk est prêt pour être joué localement.

Les programmes animant le Star Trk vont alors permettre de manipuler les sons stockés selon des principes tirés de l'histoire de la musique électroacoustique : délais, accéleration, ralentissement, gel spectral, etc..

Ces activités peuvent être réalisées par l'artiste seul ou dans le cadre d'ateliers.

From field recording to real-time sonic manipulation.

Sounds from various sources are first recorded on location. The sounds gathered will represent the local sonic footprint.

Such location as the Australian bush, a city or even a functionning hospital can be used for field recording. Many parts of the world are yet to be explored !

The digital recordings are then choosen for their relevance and classified. The choices will be directed by the possible juxtaposition of diverse sounds, their "manipulation-friendly" capabilities.

The resulting work is then loaded into the Star Trk memory...

Le Star Trk is now ready to play and tweak the recorded sounds, giving them a new life of their own. Effects that are used come from the Electroacoustic music history such as delays, spectral freeze, varispeed...

The tasks described below can be completed by the artist alone or during a workshop.

Les principes de fonctionnement du Le Star Trk invitent à un jeu musical dont on sort toujours gagnant. Après quelques explications sur les règles très simples, le public peut déclencher des sons, les manipuler et surtout écouter le résultat ! écoute et échange de regards entre les participants sont les clés pour une musique improvisée réussie !

Game-play and free improvisation music

Le Star Trk working principles are made to encourage an enthralling game-play and musical experience. Following a short explanation of the very few rules, the public will trigger and manipulate sounds. It is of paramount importance that each participant is deeply involved in listening to the resulting music !
